Grand View is owned and controlled by William Krahe. Established in 1994, Grand View has been Mr. Krahe’s primary operating platform for development opportunities.
In late 2000, Mr. Krahe joined Giant Eagle, Inc. in the startup of ECHO Real Estate Services Company. As the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of ECHO Real Estate Services Company, Mr. Krahe was responsible for establishing one of the premier commercial real estate companies in the tri-state area. From 2001 to 2007, Mr. Krahe grew ECHO’s operations from $700,000 in annual revenue and 10 employees to 50 employees generating $8M in annual revenue offering brokerage and leasing, financing, development, construction management services and property management; completed over 50 developments valued in excess of $1B, raised $150M in equity and $500M of project financing. During his tenure at ECHO, Grand View remained the investment arm of Mr. Krahe in the projects overseen at ECHO.
Effective January 1, 2008, Grand View resumed operations as an active development company concentrating commercial projects including in large retail anchored centers, office buildings and industrial sites.
In 2009, Mr. Krahe was the lead investor in the acquisition of Bushy Park Industrial Complex, Charleston, SC. The 1600-acre industrial park is home to six international light chemical manufacturers. Mr. Krahe was responsible for all negotiations with the seller, Lanxess Corp, the leaseback by Lanxess of their manufacturing facilities, arranging of $9M of bank debt, $5M of equity and bonding, $5M of environmental bonds and $15M of environmental insurance.
Prior to forming Grand View in 1994, Mr. Krahe was employed by R.A.K Development Co., Coraopolis, PA as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Mr. Krahe managed the development of several large commercial real estate developments. Mr. Krahe’s most notable accomplishment was the oversight of R.A.K.’s position in the acquisition of the Circle K Corp in 1993 for $450M.
From 1985 to 1990, Mr. Krahe was an associate attorney for Grogan, Graffam, McGinley and Lucchino, a Pittsburgh PA based general practice firm. Mr. Krahe practice was focused on real estate, finance and transactional law.
Mr. Krahe is a 1982 graduate of Washington and Jefferson College, a 1985 graduate of University of Duquesne Law School and a 1996 graduate of the University Of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School Of Business.
Since 2004, Mr. Krahe has been an active board member of Pittsburgh YMCA Metropolitan Board, serving as the Chairman of the Planning Committee and member of the Executive Committee. The Planning Committee oversees the development and construction of new facilities and maintenance of 17 branches and 3 camps. Since 2005, the Y has successful completed 4 new branches and currently has 3 in the design and planning stages. Mr. Krahe was instrumental in leading the Y to embrace sustainable development and operating principles. The Y is considered a leader in the nonprofit community in sustainable operating practices.
Since 2005, Mr. Krahe has been an active member of the board of Construction Junction. Construction Junction is a leader in recovery and reuse of building materials. Mr. Krahe serves on the building committee that is responsible for oversight of the 100,000 square foot operations.
Since 2009, Mr. Krahe has served as an active member of the White Fields Foundation. White Fields is a non-denominational men’s Christian organization focused on serving men, youth and the poor. It is through the love of the brothers of White Field that Mr. Krahe has been molded to lead with the eyes of Christ and the surrender of self.
