Steven Tassaro has 35 years of hands-on experience in the construction and real estate development industry. Having gained extensive experience in this industry from the Developers’, Contractors’ and Owners’ perspectives, Tassaro, LLC was established in 2008 as a single member LLC with a primary focus to serve Ownership entities by coordinating all aspects of property evaluation, design, development and construction. Completed and active projects include health care facilities, retail and office spaces, laboratory and research space and teleconferencing centers.
Prior to establishing Tassaro, LLC, Steven was Vice President of Construction for Giant Eagle from 1997 through 2008 where he was responsible for the engineering, design, and construction of all new stores, remodels, expansions and fuel stations. Steven managed an internal and external staff of professionals who worked to expand and improve Giant Eagle’s presence of 250 stores and 140 fuel stations spread over western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio with an annual capital expenditure budget in excess of $150 million.
From 1985 through 1997 Steven was Vice President of Construction for National Development Corporation, a privately held firm headquartered in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh specializing in negotiated development and construction of high-rise residential buildings, structured parking, hotels and offices. Major projects included the Soldiers and Sailors Parking Garage, a 967 car underground structure with landscaping above and Forbes Tower, a twelve-story office and garage facility built for UPMC.
Steven was employed with Massaro Corporation for five years prior to his work with National Development. Notable responsibilities included a major role in the construction of the National Steel Building at the corner of Fort Pitt and Stanwix streets (now a PNC building) that was constructed in the early 80’s as part of the Pittsburgh Renaissance and is one of Pittsburgh’s only cast-in-place concrete buildings.
Currently serving on the Board of Directors and Renovation Committee of the Andrew Carnegie Free Library (Carnegie, PA) and on the Robert Morris University Board of Visitors in the School of Education, Steven also previously served for sixteen years on the Rosslyn Farms Borough Council and six years on the board of Chartiers Country Club.
Steven is a graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelors Degree in Construction Technology and an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering.
He resides in Rosslyn Farms with his wife of 36 years, Betsy, who together have three daughters and one granddaughter. In addition to spending time travelling with his wife and family, Steven enjoys golf, mountain biking, skiing, swimming and squash.
